Coe Vanna captains typically spend a full season working aboard our boats as deckhands and first mates alongside our veteran captains before taking responsibility for their own charter customers.
Many of our younger captains are local fishermen and sons of captains who grew up boating and fishing on Lake Erie. They already have years of fishing experience before beginning the additional hands-on training required by Coe Vanna Charters.
That training gives them practical experience with our boats, equipment, fishing techniques, customer service standards and, most importantly, the constantly changing conditions found on Lake Erie.
